Online Learning: A Smart Choice for Adult Learners

If your concept of education has always included a classroom with students, desks and a teacher, chances are you might be someone who balks at the notion of taking an online course.

But the perception – more common among adult learners – that effective and rewarding learning cannot take place in an online environment is rapidly heading the way of cassette tapes and dial phones.

Free Online Courses Offered in Jewish Studies

The Allen and Joan Bildner Center for the Study of Jewish Life at Rutgers offers free online mini-courses for anyone interested in learning about the Bible, Israel, or Jewish history and culture.

The courses can be accessed through the Bildner Center’s website. They are taught by Jewish studies faculty and are accessible over the internet from any location. The courses include video streams, slide shows, charts, maps, links to websites, and a discussion board.

The courses appeal to learners of all ages, from high school students to retirees. To date, these courses have been taken by people in more than 47 countries and 41 states across the U.S., who are interested in expanding their knowledge of Jewish history and culture.

Educators: Study Collaboration and Dynamic Mathematics this Fall

If you answered “yes” to the above questions, then the Rutgers-Newark Department of Urban Education’s Collaboration and Dynamic Mathematics in Middle and High Schools course is right for you. This three-credit, online graduate class is being offered for the Fall 2012 semester.
