Rutgers’ Center for Continuing Professional Development (CCPD) offers a host of educational opportunities to meet the needs of those looking to upgrade their skills, improve their marketability in the workplace, broaden their horizons, or comply with professional requirements.

CCPD primarily offers noncredit certificate programs for those interested in advancing their careers, learning a new skill, changing careers, or maintaining a particular level of competency in their field. CCPD ’s wide selection of online programs enables individuals to learn at their own pace and on their own schedule.

Online Certificate Programs

CCPD offers dozens of online certificate programs that enable individuals to complete coursework on their own schedule in the convenience of their own home.

Programs fall under general areas of study, including administrative and business skills, construction, e-business, education, green construction and technologies, healthcare, international business, law, Microsoft training, computer network training, project management, sales and marketing, security, Six Sigma, skilled trades, travel and hospitality, and video and web development.

Health care programs offer the opportunity to take five certification exams recognized by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA).

Progress in online certificate programs is monitored by a program coordinator. Course completion times range from 40 to 700 hours. Explore a full list of grant-eligible programs.

Many of CCPD’s online certificate programs are eligible for training grants through the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development. Unemployed individuals may be able to enroll in training at no cost.

According to Sharon Raynor, program coordinator for Workforce Development and certification exams, CCPD currently serves about 145 grant-funded students in its programs. For more information or assistance on the process of applying, call (732) 932-6998, ext. 604, or email

Online High School Diploma Programs

Career Online High School is a division of Smart Horizons Career Online Education, a private school district that has been granted District Accreditation from the AdvancED Accreditation Commission, recognized across the nation as a quality school system.

Programs for Military

Rutgers offers affordable programs for active duty military, veterans, reservists and eligible military dependents looking to get back into the civilian workforce. They may take advantage of Veterans Administration-approved classroom-based or online non-degree and certificate programs.
