The Zimmerli Art Museum at Rutgers invites families to travel the world of art through Passport to Art, a series of workshops that take place on select first Saturdays, from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Children and parents, grandparents, or guardians enjoy quality time together, working side-by-side on exciting projects conducted by trained educators and artists.

On November 3, participants will explore the art of portraiture through the technique and style of Impressionist painter Mary Cassatt and learn a variety of pastel techniques, allowing them to render their own portraits. December 1 celebrates the annual tradition of creating unique holiday greeting cards.

Each class is $10 per child for Zimmerli members and $15 per child for nonmembers; adults are free. Materials and a brief exhibition tour are provided. Advanced registration is required; email the Education Department at or call (732) 932-7237. Additional information is available online.

The Zimmerli Art Museum is located at 71 Hamilton Street on the College Avenue campus of Rutgers in New Brunswick.
