Learn about Rutgers-Camden Executive MPA Program, Now Offered in West Windsor

Nov. 14 Open House at Mercer County Community College

WEST WINDSOR – Experienced public managers interested in obtaining a graduate degree to advance their leadership skills and enhance their potential in the public sector are invited to meet with representatives of the Rutgers-Camden Executive Master’s in Public Administration (EMPA) program at an open house from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., Thursday, November 14.

The community open house will take place in The Conference Center at Mercer on the Mercer County Community College campus, where the EMPA program will offer classes beginning with the next cohort of admitted students in January 2014. The deadline for applications is December 14.

Designed for working professionals, the Rutgers-Camden EMPA program is taught in hybrid format with both classroom-based and online instruction. All face-to-face classes will meet on Saturday mornings on the West Windsor campus.

Dr. Angie McGuire, EMPA program director will be present to answer questions.

OCPE Receives $1 Million Grant to Train Employees in one of NJ’s Fastest Growing Industries – Health Care

NJ Department of Labor award will train incumbent workers of health care organizations

Several New Jersey health care facilities are getting a boost: their current front-line employees are receiving training to upgrade their skills from the Rutgers Office of Continuing Professional Education (OCPE) thanks to a $1 million grant awarded to OCPE by the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development (DOL). The goal: help individual workers feel more valued and be more productive; save organizations time and money while making them more competitive; and retain highly skilled, high wage positions in the state.

‘Retool Your Career’: Attend a Free Workshop, Meet Program Representatives at Continuing Education Fair, March 16

The 2nd Annual ‘Retool Your Career’ Continuing Education Fair at Rutgers on Saturday, March 16, offers the public the opportunity to meet with representatives of scores of Rutgers continuing education programs and also attend a free career workshop on resume writing or networking.

The event will take place from 9 a.m. to noon at the Cook Campus Center, 59 Biel Road, on the Rutgers Cook Campus. It is free and open to the public. Registration is required for the workshops.

Anyone who is un- or under-employed, considering a career change, seeking continuing education credits for certification or licensing, or interested in pursuing higher education for career enhancement is welcome to attend.

Center for Government Services Rolls Out its Fall Courses

Center for Government Services courses are in high demand and the next round of courses are scheduled for the fall. Courses – ranging from Financial Management to Public Works - are taught by state and local government professionals and other experts who share their expertise and insights with course participants. Most classes are run throughout the state on an open-enrollment basis. However, on-site programs can be developed for individual local governments upon request.
