Atlantic Cape Community College and Rutgers University–Camden Sign Conditional Acceptance Agreement

Atlantic Cape Community College and Rutgers University–Camden signed a Conditional Acceptance Agreement May 11, allowing students to complete three years of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree at Atlantic Cape and seamlessly transfer to Rutgers–Camden for completion.The 3+1 agreement allows students to pay the lower tuition and fees at Atlantic Cape for an additional year, a savings of more than $20,000, before transferring to the Rutgers School of Nursing–Camden.

In 1999, Joe Monzo, then chief financial officer for Ewing Township, NJ, had more than 20 years experience in the public sector. Looking for an opportunity to advance his career, he considered pursuing a master’s degree — a suggestion made by the mayor of Ewing Township at that time.

“I chose the Rutgers Executive Master of Public Administration (EMPA) program because of the name and the convenient location in Mercer County,” says Monzo. He started the program a year later and graduated with his EMPA degree in 2001.

Reduced tuition rates for towns participating in Sustainable Jersey program

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. – Public and nonprofit leaders and managers can learn skills and strategies for communicating effectively with their constituents in a new Leadership Certificate series offered by the Rutgers Center for Executive Leadership in Government (CELG) in partnership with Sustainable Jersey starting March 1st.

“Strategic Public Communications for Public and Nonprofit Managers” is a four-part seminar program offered from 9:30 to 3:30 on March 1st and 8th on the Rutgers—New Brunswick campus. All sessions will be held at CELG’s classrooms at 303 George St.

The online course environment is an attractive instructional option for graduate-level programs. In fields as diverse as business and social work, online courses draw people who work full-time, have family responsibilities, and live some distance from campus.

Dilafruz Nazarova knew that the students coming to her Rutgers political science course shared these characteristics. She also knew that online learning could offer a rigorous learning environment.

But she didn’t know how to get there.

While she had taught in face-to-face classrooms, Nazarova wanted professional guidance in transitioning to an online teaching environment. At first she was unsure about what instructional technology could offer her and her students.

University-Run Boot Camps Offer Students Marketable Skills — but Not Course Credit

Level, a venture that offers students courses in data analytics, has a motto of sorts. It’s written in large letters across the program’s website: “Real skills. Real experience. Two months.”

The motto sounds a lot like the boot-camp style of education offered by companies like General Assembly. But Level, a product of Northeastern University, is neither a private company nor a Silicon Valley startup. It is one of the first boot-camp programs created by a traditional university, and it exists alongside Northeastern’s master’s programs in subjects such as urban informatics and information design and visualization.

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. – Rutgers will explore the unique challenges of educating the most gifted students in a classroom at the second annual Gifted Education conference for education professionals and parents on Thursday, Nov. 19.

Conference keynote luncheon speaker Joyce VanTassel-Baska, professor emerita and founding director of the Center for Gifted Education at the College of William & Mary, will describe “Challenges Facing Gifted Education in this Age of Standards and Accountability.”
