Long after the dust has settled and the pundits have gone home, historians and political scientists will still be evaluating the impact of the 2012 elections on the country for years to come.

For insight on what they might be saying, the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Rutgers University (OLLI-RU) is hosting a post-election dinner and discussion with Dr. Gerald Pomper, one of the nation’s leading authorities on American elections and politics, as he looks at the meanings of this year’s results.

The event will take place from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, November 16, at the Rutgers University Inn and Conference Center at 178 Ryders Lane, New Brunswick, and is open to OLLI-RU students, and the general public. Admission to the dinner and discussion is $35 for OLLI-RU members (students) and $50 for non-members. Free parking will be available in Lot 82 at the inn.

Love politics? Over 50? As the presidential election heats up, the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Rutgers University (OLLI-RU) will bring in esteemed experts to examine this most salient of American political institutions during its fall session, August 27 through November 14.

Two courses on the presidential election will be among 97 offerings scheduled by OLLI-RU this fall.

Gerald Pomper, Board of Governors Professor Emeritus of political science, and Jon Plaut, a Clinton Administration appointee and educator, will lead the discussions and offer insights into the election process, politics and other key issues in two separate courses.
