Registration is underway for individuals interested in nondegree study at Rutgers during the Spring 2013 semester. Online registrations are being accepted through January 23, and in-person registration is possible through January 25. Complete details are available at http://visiting.rutgers.edu.

Working adults looking to jump-start their careers or gain new skills and knowledge, students attending other institutions, and qualified high school students can take Rutgers courses in New Brunswick on a nondegree basis during the fall and spring semesters through the Division of Continuing Studies.

The division offers the opportunity for nondegree graduate and undergraduate study during the fall and spring semesters. Students attend classes and complete coursework alongside matriculated Rutgers students. Tuition and fees are billed per credit hour.

Classroom-based, online and hybrid courses are open on a space-available basis. Students may take classes offered in New Brunswick and at Rutgers’ satellite facilities in Freehold, North Branch and Mays Landing.

Nondegree students are expected to attend classes and complete assignments, and they receive grades just as matriculated students do. They will have a course transcript on record with the University Registrar. They have access to all university resources, including libraries, computer centers, academic support services and recreation centers. They are responsible for observing academic policies and purchasing their own books and supplies.

Registration is not guaranteed and is contingent on space availability and/or departmental approval. Transferability of credits is determined solely by the institution students have applied to or in which they are matriculated. Registering for courses through the Division of Continuing Studies does not guarantee acceptance into any academic program offered at Rutgers.

All students are required to obtain written approval from the department offering the course for which they wish to register.

Registration for nondegree study takes place in the month prior to the start of classes. Availability of classes is dependent on space. Prerequisites and other requirements may apply. For more information, go online to http://visiting.rutgers.edu, call 732-932-7922, or email rcs@dceo.rutgers.edu.
